Book Review: The Next Christians by Gabe Lyons

Mr. Seriously Though is my guest blogger today with a review of the book, "The Next Christians, The Good News About the End of Christian America, How a New Generation is Restoring the Faith," by Gabe Lyons

While Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, the Church as a body of believers has had many different appearances in the time since Jesus was risen. Gabe Lyons in his book, "The Next Christians," attempts to outline how individual Christians can join together in a body of believers to be most effective in carrying out the great commission of Christ in the current culture and society.
At times the book will read like a text book and you may not always agree with what he describes. However a pastor once said “God doesn’t have any grandchildren and each generation must find Him on their own.” Gabe Lyon does a good job of describing where current culture stands and the viewpoints, background, and perspectives of those who are coming of age in the culture in order to reach them most effectively. For some people this will not be an easy read, but I would encourage them to stick with it and read the whole book. While not every thing in the book will speak to every reader, I strongly believe each person will find something that does speak to them and that something will be very important and possibly life changing to them. For those can be open-minded and read the entire book they will be glad they did at the end and find things to use towards a more positive future.
